Utrecht Early Music Festival 2019: Naples
During the Utrecht Early Music Festival 2019, dedicated to music from Naples, I played five concerts with four different programmes:
The short comic opera La serva padrona by Pergolesi, as well as his famous Stabat Mater with Gli Angeli Genève (Stephan Macleod).
A solo recital with late 17th and early 18th-century sonatas by Cailò, Mascitti, Piani and Matteis, accompanied by Daniel Rosin, cello, and Johannes Keller, harpsichord. This concert was followed by an appearance in the Dutch national television programme “Vrije Geluiden. Here we repeated some movements from the concert and I answered some questions about the almost non-existence of solo violin repertoire in 17th-century Naples.
My last concert was also very late in the evening: at 10.30pm Raffaella Milanesi (soprano) joined Ensemble Odyssee to perform some late 17th-century cantatas, serenatas and instrumental music by Farina, Marchitelli and Amodei.
