Il Profondo recorded a new Album!

Il Profondo is back with Jan Börner and the violin consort we created for our last album, Absorta Est. Once again, we will be playing on four instruments (two violins and two violas), and four bows by Daniel Frisch (Zell im Wiesental). On the picture, mine is the one on top (after Girolamo Amati, made in 2017). It is incredible how well these instruments blend together and how rich their ensemble sound is. Every violinist should experience being part of such a group with such good instruments!

The CD consists of songs by Krieger and Erlebach as well as instrumental pieces by Weichlein, Biber and Schmelzer. The soloists are Nuria Rial (soprano) and Jan Börner (alto), accompanied by myself and Sonoko Asabuki (violin), Christoph Rudolf and Johannes Frisch (viola), Sophie Lamberbourg (cello), Josías Rodríguez Gándara (theorbo) and Johannes Keller (harpsichord).

We played a concert with this programme at the end of September 2019 and an instrumental concert with similar repertoire will take place at the Utrecht Early Music Festival 2020. I’ll keep you posted about the release of the CD.
