Juditha Triumphans

In January 2019, La Cetra Barockorchester Basel and Andrea Marcon were invited to play Vivaldi’s oratorium Juditha Triumphans at the Nationale Opera in Amsterdam (stage director: Floris Visser).

Since Juditha Triumphans doesn’t have an overture, we started the evening with Vivaldi’s “Concerto di Amsterdam” RV 562a for solo violin, two oboes, two horns (trumpets in our version), strings and continuo. As the leader of the orchestra, I not only performed the solo part of the concerto, but also had the honour and pleasure of playing the aria for viola d’amore “Quanto magis generosa” on a beautiful instrument by Franco Simeoni.
